Every year, thousands of cats sit in animal shelters and rescue centres waiting<\/strong> for adoption. Many aren\u2019t kittens. Many aren\u2019t \u201cperfect.\u201d Some are shy. Some are older. Some were born on the streets. Some were surrendered when circumstances<\/strong> changed.<\/p>

Most just didn\u2019t get lucky<\/strong>.<\/p>

Lucky did.<\/p>

He was rescued from the streets of Bucharest \u2014 tiny, seriously sick, surrounded by street dogs. He wouldn\u2019t have survived<\/strong> the night if my sister and brother hadn\u2019t taken him in. That\u2019s the truth.<\/p>

Lucky only exists<\/strong> because they chose rescue when it would have been easier<\/strong> not to.<\/p>

That\u2019s what International Rescue Cat Day represents. Sometimes it\u2019s simply deciding<\/strong> not to walk past.<\/p>

Why Rescue Cats Wait<\/h2>

Walk into any animal shelter and you\u2019ll see it immediately.<\/p>

Adult<\/strong> cats waiting while kittens are adopted first.

Lucky\u2019s<\/strong> life changed<\/strong> because they chose to act.

He has the cheekiest<\/strong> personality and the sweetest little face and is the heart<\/strong> and inspiration behind mrSweetface<\/u><\/strong><\/a>. Loving him, and seeing what rescue can do, made us want to do more<\/strong> for other animals too.<\/p>

That\u2019s exactly why the phrase \u201cWho rescued who?\u201d <\/u><\/strong><\/a>resonates <\/strong>so deeply with us \u2014 because if you\u2019ve lived it, you know the answer isn\u2019t simple.<\/p>

Adopting a rescue cat or animal doesn\u2019t just change<\/strong> their life. It changes yours<\/strong>.<\/p>

That\u2019s the part that stays<\/strong> with you.<\/p>

That\u2019s the difference.<\/strong><\/p>

It\u2019s also why we donate 20% of profits to animal charities<\/u><\/strong><\/a> \u2014 because rescue shouldn\u2019t depend on luck<\/strong> alone. Supporting animal welfare isn\u2019t separate from what we do. It\u2019s our main driver<\/strong>.<\/p>

International Rescue Cat Day reminds us that every confident, settled cat is the result of someone choosing <\/strong>not to walk past.<\/p>

Lucky\u2019s story could have ended <\/strong>on a street in Bucharest.<\/p>

Instead<\/strong>, he\u2019s here \u2014 twelve years on, still following them around, still deeply loved \u2014 and a huge reason<\/strong> rescue means so much to us.<\/p>

He didn\u2019t just get a second<\/strong> chance. We did too.<\/p>
